主讲内容:
Policy development addresses problems, issues and concerns in the governance of social and political life. While it is an administrative tool it is also a political process. Policies reflect contemporary organisational or government approaches to address matters of concern - they are a specific representation of the ideas, practices and identities of different cultural groups - or stakeholders. This lecture introduces the ideas of french sociologist Pierre Bourdieu as a methodology for understanding policy development. The lecture will discuss the idea of cultural stakeholder analysis of the policy development cycle, emphasising that while there are different approaches to policy analysis, the exploration of culture provides the deepest assessment of the potential for change.
