He holds a BSEE from National Taiwan University, an MSEE from Georgia Tech, and an MS in statistics and a PhD in Operations Research from Stanford University. He has published over 80 professional papers and authored and co-authored 6 technical books which mainly focus on the technology innovation management.
内容简介:
By defining innovation as an idea implemented with impact, the innovation process can be viewed as a system that starts with idea generation, and then implements the idea through building and managing organizations to develop, finance, and promote the final adoption of the resulting product or service in a competitive market to achieve impact. This system involves four key participants: the idea generator, the core team and the extended organization, the supporter, and the adopter. Each participant is investing its time, energy, and other resources in the innovation process of idea generation, implementation, and adoption. Thus, innovation management is basically the effective integration of the perceived expected values (including the perceived expected risks) of the participants for their respective investments for the innovation process to achieve significant impact. Using the system framework for the innovation process and the investment perspective for its participants, this seminar presents the general concepts and principles of a value-focused systems approach for innovation management. It starts with a new human needs model and a human perception model as the basis for the value generation and perception by the innovation participants. It then develops three major principles for innovation management: value-driven creativity, value-inspired leadership, and a value-centered system for people management. Throughout the seminar, case examples will be used to illustrate how these concepts and principles have been successfully operationalized in real-world applications.
