Chinese University of Hong Kong assistant Professor Li Hongfei academic report successfully held

On July 7, 2021, at the invitation of school of Management and Economics, the academic report by Assistant Professor Li Hongfei of CuHK was successfully held in Conference Room 216 of the main building of Beijing Institute of Technology. The lecture was hosted by Yin Qiuju, a teacher from the Department of Management Engineering of our college. Many teachers and students attended the lecture.

Professor Li Hongfei gave an academic report entitled "When More is Less: The Effect of Add-on Insurance on The Consumption of Professional Services". The report first introduced the current situation, existing problems and development prospects of medical beauty insurance to the teachers and students in the form of case sharing. Later, Professor Li analyzed the influence of medical beauty insurance on consumers' medical beauty decision-making, and studied whether and how the introduction of risk reduction strategies (namely, additional insurance against negative consequences) affected the demand for professional services on online platforms. Professor Li Hongfei gave a detailed explanation of the DID method used in the study. This study for the first time extended physical products into the decision-making of medical beauty products with high risks, and provided management suggestions for the marketing strategy of medical beauty platform, with important research significance. The report was widely praised by teachers and students attending the meeting.

Introduction to Assistant Professor Li Hongfei

Hongfei Li is assistant professor of Decision Science and Economic Management at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He received his PhD in management from the University of Connecticut. His research interests include business analytics in emerging online platforms, artificial intelligence applications, and statistical methods. Currently, she has published an article in ACM Transaction in MIS, and has several articles under review in top journals such as Information Systems Research, Marketing Science, and MIS Quarterly. He specializes in teaching mathematics, statistics, econometrics and technical courses related to computer languages, such as business analysis, network analysis, data science, machine learning, etc.
