On October 20,2020, the second "Professors face-to-face" lecture was held in Room 103, Culture & Educaton South Building, Liangxiang Campus. Professor Zhao Yuhuan, Department of Applied Economics, School of Management and Economics, Beijing Institute of Technology, brought a lecture on "Issues Related to International Trade and Climate Change Research". More than 100 students attended the lecture.

Professor Zhao Yuhuan first introduced the main contents of the lecture, as follows: first, the origin and development of trade and environment issues; second, the relationship between trade and environment; third, the relationship between trade, economic growth and environmental protection; fourth, international cooperation in environmental protection; fifth, international trade and climate change research related issues.

As for the origin and development of trade and environment problems, Professor Zhao mainly explained that in the first stage, the relationship between trade and environment was raised for the first time in the late 1960s and early 1970s; second, the environmental related product standards may become a bastion of non-tariff trade. Compared with the first stage, the second stage is the late 1980s and early 1990s. The wave of environmental protection in this stage has more global tendency, and the economic globalization also makes the environmental problems more international.

In addition, Professor Zhao also analyzed the conclusions of trade and environment relations, such as trade beneficial theory and complex relationship theory, and explained various theoretical viewpoints respectively.

At the end of the lecture, Professor Zhao explained the influence of environmental protection on international trade, the relationship between trade, economic growth and environmental protection. He also discussed a number of issues related to international trade and climate change research, such as carbon tax and industrial national competitiveness, implicit research in international trade, economic benefits of export trade and environmental cost research. The lecture is interesting, enabled students to understand the relationship between international trade and environmental change, and encouraged them to explore research and other relevant information.
