Dr. Zhengmeng Hou, Academician of the German Academy of Earth Sciences and Geotechnical Engineering, Lifetime Professor and Commissioner for China at the Clausthal University of Technology and Lower Saxony Energy Research Center in Germany, Director of the China Competence Center funded by the German Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Education, Sino-German Clean Energy The German leader of the innovation platform, the German chief of the Sino-German Energy Research Center.

For more than 30 years in Germany, he has been engaged in the field of teaching, scientific research and international cooperation work of unconventional oil and gas and geothermal development and hydraulic fracturing, geotechnical and environmental energy geotechnical engineering, comprehensive utilization of underground space, underground storage of natural gas, strategic oil, hydrogen and renewable energy,underground disposal ofCO2,toxic waste and radioactive nuclear waste, carbon neutralization and energy transition, rock salt, rock damage and dynamics, borehole stability, heat conduction, multiphase flow, rock mechanics and geochemistry and other rock mass coupling behaviors, processes and numerical simulations, etc.

Responsible and participated in more than 90 research projects in Germany and China, currently responsible for tight gas and deep geothermal development and carbon dioxide flooding of natural gas. Several major scientific research projects funded by the department. Its research results represent the world's advanced level (leading figures in the theoretical research and engineering practice of large deformation and low permeability salt rock mechanics; the main creator of modern natural gas, oil and renewable energy underground storage design theories;A pioneer in long-term research on safety, tightness and new well closure technology of CO2 geological disposal and storage ; a senior expert in rock mechanics research in petroleum and natural gas engineering), especially to fully apply the developed theories and scientific research conclusions and further on the basis of application to develop theory.

Academician Hou Zhengmeng has published more than 200 papers included in SCI/EI, published 8 English and German monographs and 1 Chinese monograph, and edited 5 international conference proceedings.
