Our doctoral students publish the latest research results in the FT50 Journal of Management Information Systems

  Recently, the latest research results of the 2016 Department of Management Engineering Ph.D. students “Spillover Effects of Financial Incentives on Non-Incentivized User Engagement: Evidence From an Online Knowledge Exchange Platform”, published in the Journal of Management Information Systems (JMIS), the world's top journal of information systems.The research results were completed by a team of professor Yan Zhijun from our school and Professor Ni Huang and Professor Yili Hong of Arizona State University.Dr. Yan Li Ni is the first author of the article. Professor Yan Zhijun is the corresponding author of the article.

  

  

  The online knowledge exchange platform has become an important tool for Internet users to learn online.At present, a key challenge for online knowledge exchange platforms is how to stimulate user participation behavior.This study is based on user behavior data on a large online knowledge exchange platform, using a two-differential model and a propensity score matching model and a series of other tests to examine the motivational incentives for non-incentive participation behavior (ie, voluntary knowledge sharing behavior, knowledge seeking, Spillover effects of behavior and social engagement behavior).The results of the study indicate that users receiving monetary rewards from paid knowledge sharing activities can promote more free sharing of knowledge and are more willing to establish social connections with other users on the platform.However, monetary rewards have no significant impact on the user's knowledge seeking behavior.The results show that monetary incentives not only promote the impact of motivated behavior, but also have spillover effects on participation behaviors that users are not directly motivated.Therefore, in previous studies, the overall positive impact of monetary incentives on the platform may be underestimated.This study provides practical guidance and scientific evidence for platforms that rely on user-generated content, that is, money incentives can be an effective strategy for platform users, content generation, and social relationships.

  The Journal of Management Information Systems is one of the top 50 business journals (Financial Times 50 Journals, FT50) rated by the Financial Times, with fewer than 50 articles published each year.The FT50 is used to evaluate the research ability of business schools and has a high international recognition. It is an important basis for the Financial Times to rank business schools. It includes journals covering economics, strategic management, organization and human resources, operation management, information management, financial accounting, finance and other fields, of which only 3 journals are in the information management field.
