On June 6, 2017, 9 a.m., professor zhang Lin of North China University of Water Conservancy and Hydropower gave two academic reports in the main building room 418 entitled "Measures and evaluation methods of interdisciplinary sciences" and "Literature measurement and scientists personal achievement evaluation". A number of teachers, doctoral and graduate students from the school of management and economics participated in the lecture.
Professor Zhang Lin introduced the background and research significance of the interdisciplinary sciences, amd interdisciplinary sciences quantitatively measures from different dimensions. Prof. Zhang took seven representative journals (Bioinformatics, Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, Journal of Symbolic Logic, Journal of Differential Equations, Scientometrics, Nature, and Science) to carry on an effective empirical research. Professor Zhang Lin shared interesting cases and famous theories in the field of scientific metrology research, and pointed out that the empirical analysis showed periodical impact factor cannot be applied to personal assessment of scientists.
