On the afternoon of May 23, 2017, professor Lian Daxiang of the university of Texas at SAN Antonio was invited to visit and give an academic report entitled "Topics in Futures Markets". A number of teachers and students attended the lecture. The report was hosted by teacher Lu Xin.

In this report, professor Lian Daxiang introduced the hedging role of futures market. Professor Lian first introduced the development and basic knowledge of econometrics, then summarized the definition of futures, and introduced the role of futures in hedging and reducing risks in practice.
