On September 4,2023, the School of Management and Economics held a pre-trip symposium for the students of the information Management and Information System-English (Joint Degree) class of Grade 2022. Yin Li, Vice Director of the Office of Academic Affairs of Beijing Institute of Technology, Dean Professor Niu Huayong, Deputy Dean Professor Shao Mingxing of Beijing Foreign Studies University International Business School, Dean Professor Wang Zhanhua, Deputy Secretary Peng Mingxue of the School of Management and Economics, Associate Professor Gao Huiying of Information Management and Information system, and Sun Qiong of Undergraduate Center attended the symposium. The symposium was presided over by Professor Zhang Xiang, Vice Dean of the School of Management and Economics.
Vice Director Yin Li first introduced to the students the initial design, goal conception of the joint degree program and the current teaching work, as well as the policy support of the Academic Affairs Office for all aspects of the joint degree program, and wished the students to achieve success in BFSU.
Dean Niu Huayong and Dean Wang Zhaohua delivered speeches respectively. The two deans jointly mentioned that BFSU and BIT came together from Yan'an with the same origin. In the course of several decades of development, distinctive cultures have been formed. We expect students to experience different campus culture and make good use of the advantages of the two universities. The two deans encouraged the students to study hard and enterprising actively, and placed high expectations on them.
In the subsequent pre-trip education, Secretary Peng Mingxue reminded the students not only to integrate into the excellent cultural atmosphere of Beijing Foreign Studies University, but also to be strict with themselves to highlight their BIT style.
Luo Daoping and Han Mingyang made speeches as the student representatives. The two students talked about their one-year study experience on Liangxiang campus, as well as their longing and expectation for the upcoming academic year in BFSU. At the final ceremony of the meeting, the leaders presented gifts prepared by the School and took a group photo. The symposium concluded successfully!
The Information Management and Information System-English (Joint Degree) class is a novel coordinated education program jointly applied by Beijing Institute of Technology and Beijing Foreign Studies University and officially approved by Beijing Municipal Education Commission in 2022. The program is set to share high-quality teachers and resources of the two universities, and jointly cultivate top talents who not only master the new generation of information management knowledge, but also have high-level English communication skills and global vision.
