The 2024 International Conference on Digital Health and Medical Analytics (DHA2024) was successfully held at the Yangtze River Delta Research Institute of Beijing Institute of Technology (Jiaxing) from August 16 to 18, 2024. The conference was jointly hosted by School of Management of Beijing Institute of Technology, Yangtze River Delta Research Institute of Beijing Institute of Technology (Jiaxing) and Jiaxing Science and Technology Bureau. Nearly 100 people from all walks of life, including government, enterprises and relevant experts and scholars in the field, were invited to attend, and the latest progress, cutting-edge trends, application practices and development trends in the field of smart medical and health were discussed.
The conference was officially held at 8:30 a.m. on August 17th at the Yangtze River Delta Research Institute (Jiaxing) of Beijing Institute of Technology. Professor Yan Zhijun from School of Management of Beijing Institute of Technology presided over the opening ceremony. Professor Yang Zhihong, deputy director of the School Committee of Beijing Institute of Technology, and Mr. Wu Genjun, director of Jiaxing Science and Technology Bureau, delivered speeches at the conference respectively. In the opening speech, the speakers expressed their warm welcome to the experts and scholars attending the conference, introduced the overall situation of the Yangtze River Delta Research Institute of Beijing Institute of Technology and the development of science and technology in Jiaxing City, expounded the realistic background and significance of holding this conference, and expressed their heartfelt thanks to all participants and relevant units for their support for this conference.
The conference invited six famous experts to give keynote speeches. Professor Andrew Burton-Jones of Quinlan University in Australia brought a presentation entitled "Digital Transformation of Healthcare in Australia: Lessons Learned from Two Cases" This first keynote speech emphasized the importance of improving the professionalization of clinical information management to improve the efficiency and capabilities of digital health workers.
Professor Hua Zhongsheng of Zhejiang University brought a keynote speech on the interpretability of machine learning "An Interpretable Machine Learning Framework for Predictive Modelling: Taking Peri-implantitis as an Example" , which integrated machine learning-based predictive modeling with game theory-inspired interpretation tools, and provided a new perspective and method for the development of machine learning models.
Professor Guo Xitong of Harbin Institute of Technology gave a speech entitled "Empowering Patients Using Smart Mobile Health Platforms: Evidence from A Randomized Field Experiment". This keynote speech analyzed the impact of the health management model based on smart devices on patients health level from the perspective of the social impact of e-health.
Professor Zhang Luxia of Peking University gave a keynote speech titled "Health Data Science: Data for Better Health" from the perspective of Health Data Science, expounding the concept and connotation of the emerging discipline of Health Data Science, and introducing its application in many key medical and health fields.
Professor Cao Zhidong from the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, gave a speech titled "Advancements in Large Model Technology and Their Influence on Healthcare".The keynote speech shared the research teams insights, exploration and practice in the field of large model technology, and provided new suggestions and directions for the development and transformation of medical care in the field of large models.
Mr. Zhang Yuming, Director of the Medical and Health Big Data and Network Research (East China) Center of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, spoke in a speech entitled "The Digital Intelligence Era: Stepping into the Metaverse Medical Ecosystem". The keynote speech introduced the powerful transformative potential of metaverse and analyzed the ethical and legal challenges brought by the application of virtual reality technology to the medical and health field.
On the afternoon of the 17th, the conference organized four parallel forums "Emerging Technologies in Healthcare", "Social Media and Healthcare Management", "Digital Technologies and Mental Health Management", "Chinese Session". The parallel forums covered a number of topics such as artificial intelligence application, health management, medical and health big data, social media, smart old-age care, mental health, etc. Many scholars from all over the country gave speeches on related topics at the forum, and interacted with other scholars with questions and answers. The atmosphere of the forum was high and the response was good.
At the same time, the conference specially invited Professor Christy M.K.Cheung of Hong Kong Baptist University, Professor Ding Nian of Wuhan University, Professor Liu Bolian of Beijing Institute of Technology and Professor Luke Younghoon Chang of Nottingham Ningbo University discussed how to publish high-quality academic journal articles, and introduced the publishing process and main experience of relevant journals. Experts and scholars attending the meeting had a heated discussion and exchange with invited experts on paper topic selection, matters needing attention in submission, review process and publication cycle.
In addition, the conference also held an exhibition of scientific and technological innovation achievements of Jiaxing medical science and technology enterprises, which attracted 18 enterprises to come to the scene to introduce their scientific and technological innovation achievements. The exhibition of scientific and technological innovation achievements also set up a high-quality communication platform for school-enterprise cooperation in the field of smart medical and health care and promoting the transformation of scientific and technological achievements.
In order to better encourage excellent papers, the conference set up a best paper review committee, and selected 1 best paper and 2 best paper nominations. “The Secret of Doctor-Patient Matching: How to Make a Patient Click with a Doctor” won the best paper award at the conference, "Are Customers Willing to Comply? Investigating the Effectiveness of Hospital Queuing-Rerecommendation System "and" How to Get Fans? The Relationship of Image Emotions in User-generated Content for Depression and Social Support " won the Best Paper Nomination Awards.
In order to promote exchanges between universities and school-enterprise cooperation, the conference organized a visit to Qisheng Technology and Jiaxing City Brain on the morning of August 18th, and visited the research results of Qisheng Technology and the digital construction of Jiaxing City Brain respectively.
Participants spoke highly of this meeting, believing that DHA2024, combined with Healthy China 2030 development strategy, fully exchanged the latest research progress and application practices of digital technology in the field of healthcare, and has set up a high-level and international communication platform for promoting the scientific research and industrial development in the field of intelligent medical and health care.
