In early December 2024, the International Certification Expert Group of Association of MBAs Association (AMBA) conducted an on-site review of the School of Management of Beijing Institute of Technology. The panel is led by Professor Steef van de Velde, Chairman of the AMBA International Accreditation Advisory Committee. The members include Professor Cathy Cassell, Executive Dean of the Business School of Durham University, Professor Zhongming Wang, Co-Director of the Center for Global Entrepreneurship Research at Zhejiang University, and Mr.George Iliev, Director of AMBA Certification and China. The School of Management of Beijing Institute of Technology first passed AMBA certification in 2011 and re-certification in 2014 and 2020. This is the fourth time that the School of Management has conducted on-site review of AMBA certification / re-recertification.
Wang Bencong, vice president of Beijing Institute of Technology, met with the expert group and welcomed and thanked the expert group for the on-site evaluation, and introduced the work and achievements of Beijing Institute of Technology and the School of Management in discipline construction, talent training, scientific research, international cooperation and other aspects.
The certification expert group listened to Dean Tang Baojun's report on the overall situation and the latest progress of the school, and had in-depth exchanges with the leadership on strategic planning, governance system, talent training, scientific research, teacher development, professional education and so on.
During the on-site review of recertification, the expert group had a discussion with the leaders of professional degree programs, teachers, employers, students and alumni representatives. The expert group had a comprehensive understanding of the school's long-term goals, professional degree program construction, student training, faculty, international cooperation, alumni relations, school-enterprise cooperation, social responsibility and sustainable development, and conducted on-site investigation of infrastructure, teaching security and office environment.
After consultation, the expert group formed a preliminary re-certification evaluation opinions, and gave feedback to the school leaders and functional departments. The expert group has highly appraised the achievements of the School in the past five years, highly affirmed the organization of on-site evaluation, and put forward a number of suggestions for the further development. On behalf of the school, Vice Dean Wang Bencong thanked the certification expert group for its evaluation and suggestions, and said that the school would carefully sort out and discuss the feedback of experts, fully support the school to implement the proposed measures, and further improve the professional degree education.
