June 14th, 2017, witnessed the final round of the third BIT Model Job Hunting Competition, starting at 7:00 p.m.. The contest was held at the lecture hall of the 7th Teaching Building. Mrs. Mingxue Peng, Associate Dean and Deputy Secretary of SME, as well as many officials of the renowned companies atteneded and served as judges, including Mr. Shu Zhang, HR Manager of Total China Co., Ltd., Mr. Jiaqi Guo, Recruiting Manager of Total China Co., Ltd., Serena of City Bank of New York, Mr. Zhaohua Huang of Adfaith Management Consulting Inc.
The contest aimed at guiding university students to set their future career goals and enhancing their job-hunting ability. Its rich forms and highly simulated process provided the job seekers with simulated experiences, helped them to show themselves, and supplied them with pre-contest training, lectures, and guidance.
After the preliminary and intermediary rounds, the contestants entered the final. They were asked to make a minute’s impromptu self-introduce. Then they were divided into several groups and discussed freely for more than 10 minutes, followed by raising views and feasible schemes. Then the four judges guided the contestants to further discussion, responding to both their novel views and the incomplete ones.
At the end of the competition, Mingxue Peng gave a concluding speech. She emphasized the significance of career planning and encouraged students to explore their future occupational paths through various channels.
After the competition, candidates shared their feelings. “Through this contest, I am more determined to seize every chance in my life. Feng Gao, the first prize winner, said. Another candidate, Junde Yan, said that he became more confident after this experience. “Although the outcome wasn’t so satisfying, now I have a clearer direction in the future, which cannot be gained from book only.”
